Being one of the newest applied voltage systems, the Z-series devices generate waves at a higher frequency (approx. 70 kHz) than the normal frequency type, sending high voltage to their ionized pins and producing corona discharges. In this way, it creates a large amount of well-balanced positive and negative ions, which allow a high level static elimination. The ions transferred through tubes make it possible to eliminate static in spots where it is difficult to eliminate it by other methods (normal frequency discharges and direct current type). Furthermore, it also allows avoiding the damage to semiconductor devices, caused by the electric field originated in the ionized pin.
Normal frequency type devices are usually big and heavy, due to their coil transformers. In contrast, high frequency type devices are constructed as a flat board with built-in elements, and they are compact and light. It is easy to slip them into the narrow spaces between semiconductor equipment, and therefore they can be widely utilized. |
